How to email an offer to your guests

Quiz night is back, there is a new menu, or a quiet Tuesday needs filling. Email your mailing list and tell them. Only people who ticked the box and confirmed will get it.

Quick answer. Open Mailing list, fill in New email, press Save and preview, send yourself a test, then press Send. Each person uses one email credit. Sending is not switched on for every venue, so if you cannot see the form, ask us.

Before you start

Sending emails to your list is something we switch on for a venue on request, so that nothing is sent by mistake. If your Mailing list page says "Sending emails to your list", open a ticket from Help and ask for it. When it is on, you get a small batch of free credits to try it.

How to send an email

  1. In the left menu, under Events and money, click Mailing list. Only the owner login can see it.
  2. Under Send an email to your list, find New email.
  3. Type a short Subject line, for example "Quiz night is back this Thursday". Add a Preview line if you like. That is the grey text after the subject in most inboxes.
  4. Check From name, and add a Reply to address if you want replies to go somewhere.
  5. Write the email in The email box like a letter. Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Start a line with a dash and a space for a bullet point, and put two stars round words for bold. Paste a web address to make a link.
  6. Add a Button text such as "Book a table". The Button link fills in with your booking page.
  7. Press Save and preview. Check how it looks on Desktop and Phone.
  8. Press Send me a test. It goes to your own login email so you can see it in a real inbox.
  9. Under Send it, check the line that says how many people it will go to. Press the button that says Send to and your number of people, then confirm. It cannot be unsent.

Emails go out in batches every minute. Afterwards, open the email to see how many were delivered and how many failed.

Credits

One credit is used for each person. You can see your balance next to the email form. Bundles are one-off payments and never expire. At the time of writing they are 1000 emails for £4.99, 5000 for £19.99 and 20000 for £59.99. Pay with PayPal or a card through PayPal.

Questions people ask

Who receives my email?

Only guests who ticked the box for your venue and then confirmed by email. Everyone gets an unsubscribe link and small print, added automatically. It cannot be removed.

Why can I not see the email form?

Sending is switched on for a venue on request. Open a ticket from Help and ask us to switch it on.

What if I do not have enough credits?

The page tells you and the send button is disabled. Top up on the Mailing list page, then send.

Can I unsend an email?

No. Always send yourself a test first and read it carefully.
