New Year's Eve and bank holiday bookings

Bank holidays are either your best day or the day you are shut. Either way, the booking page needs to match what is really happening, or you end up with a table for six turning up at a closed door.

Quick answer. Add any day you are closed under Special closures in Opening hours. For a night that works differently, such as New Year's Eve, set it up as an event on Pro with its own capacity, price and deposit. Do both a month or two before.

Bank holidays are either your best day or the day you're shut. Here's how to make your booking page match, so nobody turns up at a closed door. Go to Opening hours and scroll down to Special closures. Press Add a closure for each day you're shut, add a short reason like Christmas Day, and press Save changes. Closures work on every plan. For New Year's Eve, open Events and menus and press Add a set menu. That's on the Pro plan. Name it, set the price and add the courses. Then press Add an event. Set the date, the times, the capacity, the price a head and a deposit a head. Deposits need your own Stripe account. Tick Close normal table bookings for this date and time, so ordinary bookings stop that night. Then open your booking link, and try the date as a customer would. Do it a month or two ahead, and check your Bookings list before you close a day that already has bookings. Start free at tablez.co.uk.

Days you are closed

Go to Opening hours and scroll to Special closures. Add the date and a short reason, for example "Christmas Day". Customers see those days as closed and cannot book them. Our closing and special hours guide has pictures.

Days you are open but different

Opening hours are set by day of the week, so a bank Monday looks like any Monday. If a bank holiday works differently, for example a set menu and no ordinary bookings, set it up as an event under Events and menus (Pro). Give it the date, times, capacity and price, and tick Close normal table bookings for this date and time to stop ordinary bookings that day.

New Year's Eve

This is normally a set menu night with a deposit. Add a set menu, then an event with a Price a head and a Deposit a head. Deposits need your own Stripe account connected under Deposits. See Christmas bookings for the same method over the festive period.

Do it early

People plan these days weeks ahead. Add your closures and events as soon as you know them. You can edit an event later.
