Built by people who run a pub

Tablez is made by Kalchevo, a small web company in the UK. We also run a pub. That is the whole origin story: we needed a booking system that a busy bar could actually use, that did not charge us more on our best nights, and we could not find one.

Why it exists

When you run a pub, the booking system is the thing that rings at the worst moment. The systems we tried were built for restaurants with a host stand and a reservations person. They wanted a monthly fee that made sense for 100 covers a night, or a fee per diner, or both, and in return gave us a floor plan editor we never opened. What we wanted was simpler: a page customers could book on in under a minute, a phone behind the bar that beeped and showed two big buttons, and rules so the kitchen did not get slammed at half seven.

So we built it, first for ourselves, then for the pub down the road, then for a cafe a customer's daughter ran. Tablez is that, tidied up and made available to anyone.

What we believe about pricing

Per cover fees are wrong. They mean the more successful you are, the more you pay for a bit of software, and they turn your busiest nights into your most expensive ones. Tablez is a flat price: free for up to 60 bookings a month, £5 for up to 150, £15 for up to 500, and a conversation for anything bigger. The limits exist so that £5 can stay £5 for everyone. There are no set up fees and no per cover fees, and there never will be. Paid plans are a year at a time, paid up front, which is what keeps the price at £5 a month.

The free plan is free for good. It is not a trial that quietly expires. Plenty of small venues will never need more than it, and that is fine by us.

What we do not do

We are not a marketplace. We do not send you diners, and we do not send your diners anywhere else. Your customers are yours, your data is exportable, and nobody markets to your regulars on your behalf. We do not do everything: there is no floor plan, no till integration, and deposits are still coming. We would rather do the core job well and be honest about the rest.

Built in the UK, works anywhere

We are in the UK and we started with UK pubs, restaurants and cafes, which is why the guides on this site talk about Sunday lunch and Google Business Profile. But Tablez is not a UK only product. Set your venue's time zone and everything shows local times. Any country, any address. Prices are in pounds sterling and cards from any country are fine. When deposits launch they will show in your own currency.

Kalchevo

Kalchevo is a small web company that builds and hosts websites for small businesses, and Tablez is one of its products. Being small means you will get a reply from a person who knows the system, usually within a working day, and that we are not funded to be sold to someone who will change the pricing. Kalchevo hosting customers get the Starter plan included.

Kalchevo is at kalchevo.com. Tablez is a trading name of Kalchevo.
