How do I stop double bookings?

You do not have to do anything clever. Tablez checks your tables and turn times before it offers a slot, so one table is never given to two bookings at the same time.

Quick answer. Add your tables, set how long each party keeps a table, and optionally cap covers. Phone and online bookings share the same diary.

Worried about double bookings? Tablez checks every booking against your tables, so one table is never given out twice. Under Your venue, open Tablez. Group identical tables together, like ten four seaters, and say how many you have. Tablez always picks the smallest one that fits the party. Then open Turn times, and say how long each party size keeps a table. A slot is only offered when a table is free for that long. You can also cap covers per service. Phone bookings use the same tables, so if nothing is free, Tablez tells you. Booking anyway is your choice, and the only way to overbook. Set your tables once and Tablez does the checking. How to set it up

  1. Under Your venue, open Tables, add each group with its seats and how many you have, and save.
  2. Open Turn times and say how many minutes each party size keeps a table.
  3. Back on Tables, set Max covers per service or a pacing limit, then press Save changes.

How it works

Group identical tables together, for example 2 seaters x5 and 4 seaters x10. Tablez always picks the smallest table that fits the party. When none is free for that time, the slot is not offered. The check happens as the booking is saved, so two guests cannot grab the last table together.

Phone bookings and walk-ins

Bookings you add by hand use the same tables. If nothing is free, Tablez tells you. You can tick Book anyway, even if no table is free to take it with no table assigned. That is the only way to overbook, and it is your choice.

Want to keep tables back for walk-ins? Only add the tables you want bookable. See also turn times and combining tables.
