What to Say to Guests
Simple, polite words for taking bookings, being full, late guests, changes and deposits.
Transcript
Guests ask the same handful of things. Here are simple words you can use, with the Tablez screen to go with them. Read the booking back. Say, "Lovely, that's a table for four on Saturday at seven. Can I take a name and mobile number?" Then ask, "Any allergies or anything special we should know about?" If you're full, offer another time. Say, "I'm sorry, we're full at seven, but I could do half past six or nine o'clock." If your venue has the waitlist, offer to put them on it. If they're running late, say, "Thanks for letting us know. We'll keep your table for a little while." If they want a change, say, "No problem, I can move that for you." If a deposit was paid, say you'll pass it to the manager. Never promise a refund yourself. If you don't know, say, "I'll check and call you back," and leave a note for a manager. Use your own words and your venue's rules. Be warm, be specific, and say what happens next. Start free at tablez.co.uk.
