Taking bookings for quiz nights and live music
A quiz or a band fills the room, and the people who book ahead are the ones who actually turn up. Setting each night up as an event gives you a cap on numbers, an optional entry price and a page your regulars can find.

Add each quiz or gig as an event with its own capacity, price and booking page entry. 65 sec
Add the night as an event
Go to Events and menus, then Add an event. Name it, for example "Thursday Quiz". Fill in Date, Times and Capacity (covers). If you charge entry, put it in Price a head (optional). Use Description to say how it works: team size, prizes, food served until. Press Save event. An event is for one date, so add one for each week you want to list.
Share the room, or take it over
If the quiz runs alongside normal diners, leave Close normal table bookings for this date and time unticked. For a ticketed gig where the whole room is for the band, tick it.
Deposits for ticketed nights
For paid gigs, fill in Deposit a head on the event. You need Deposits set up with your own Stripe account first. Deposits are on Pro.
Team size
Quiz teams are groups, so check Largest party online under Tables is big enough for a full team, for example 8.
Drinks to the table
If you use Order and Pay, teams can order from a table QR code without leaving their seats during the quiz round.
Tell your regulars
Share the event on your booking link. If your Mailing list is switched on for sending, you can email people who agreed to hear from you. See building a mailing list the right way.

- Open Events and menus. Choose Events and menus from the left menu.
- Press Add an event. Fill in the name, date, times and capacity.
- Add a price or deposit. Fill in Price a head and Deposit a head if you need them.
- Choose how it runs. Tick or leave Close normal table bookings for this date and time.
- Show it. Tick Show on the booking page and press Save event.
- Share your booking link. Post it on social media and on a poster.

Do I need Pro for events?
Yes, events are on Pro. On other plans, use the Welcome text in Booking page look and take normal table bookings.
Can I run the same quiz every week?
An event is for one date. Add one for each week.
Can I charge entry through Tablez?
You can set a price a head on the event, and a deposit a head that is taken through your own Stripe account. Make a test booking to see what guests are shown.
What if the night sells out?
Turn on the waitlist under Booking rules (Standard and above) and people can be told if a place opens up.
