How to sell gift vouchers online

How to set them up

1. In the left menu, under Events and money, click Gift vouchers, then Set up gift vouchers. Only the owner login can do this.
2. Tick Sell gift vouchers on my booking page.
3. In Amounts to offer, type up to eight amounts with commas between them, such as 25, 50, 100.
4. Choose how long they last under Valid for, from 6 months up to 3 years, or Never expire.
5. Optional: tick Let people type their own amount and set the lowest and highest. Add small print such as "Not valid on Christmas Day". Keep Email me when one sells ticked.
6. Connect a way to get paid. For cards, paste your Stripe secret key from Developers, API keys. It is the same key as deposits, so if deposits already work, this is done. For PayPal, you need a PayPal Business account: create an app on developer.paypal.com and paste in the Client ID and Secret.
7. Press Save, then Test the connection.

The page then shows your voucher link. There is also a link on your booking page. Stripe and PayPal charge their own card fees.

How to take a voucher when guests come in

1. Open Gift vouchers.
2. Under Take a voucher, type the code, which looks like GV-7KQ2-M4XD, and press Find. You can also scan the QR code on a printed voucher with your phone while you are logged in.
3. Type the amount in Take off (£) and press Take this amount, or press Use all.

If they only use part of it, the rest stays on the voucher. Sold one over the bar? Use Add a voucher sold in person further down so it has a code and a balance like the online ones.
